School Reconstruction Project
School Building Re-Construction Project:
In 2015, Nepal was hit by two massive earthquakes on April 25th and May 12th, causing widespread destruction to private and public properties. The Ministry of Education reported that 5,000 schools were destroyed, and over 1,000 were damaged. Unfortunately, our project schools in Sindhupalchok were also affected, and we have included school building reconstruction work in our efforts to help through Namaste Nepal.
Thanks to the financial support of Namaste Nepal Freiberg, Buchen, and Delft, we successfully implemented a school building reconstruction project. Despite starting with minimal funds, we were able to construct two schools, thanks to our dedicated development partners from Germany and the Netherlands. These partners have played a significant role in raising funds to construct schools in Sindhupalchok. Every year, Namaste Nepal Freiberg, Namaste Nepal Grotius, and Namaste Nepal Buchen organize the Nepallauf (Nepal Run) event at their school, which helps collect vast funds for this cause.
We are pleased to announce the successful completion of the reconstruction of seven schools in Gati, Dandakateri, Mandra, Sotang, Singarche, Bugam, and Kasheri to improve education. Despite facing various challenges, we tried to complete all buildings within the assigned timeline. We regularly updated our progress with the Central Level Project Implementation Unit of the National Reconstruction Authority and the District Level Project Implementation Unit. Still, unfortunately, we did not receive any feedback. This was merely a formality. Additionally, as part of official formalities, we renew the MOU every year before it expires. We hope our reconstruction efforts will positively impact students’ education.
It took a strenuous effort from many stakeholders to complete school reconstruction. NNK is delighted to share with you all about completing seven schools’ reconstruction and its gradual progress. The school reconstruction project took place at Gati, Dandakateri, Mandra, Sotang, Singarche, Bugam, and Kasheri for better education. The overall challenges for NNK were to complete all the buildings within the assigned timeline. We kept updating our construction progress monthly with CLPIU, i.e. Central Level Project Implementation Unit of the National Reconstruction Authority, and DLPIU, i.e. District Level Project Implementation Unit, but we never got any feedback. It was a formality to be done. Likewise, every year as soon as the MOU is about to expire, we proceed with its renewal as it is part of official formalities.
In 2019, we finished the reconstruction project and held a Joint Building Inauguration and handover ceremony during the development partner’s visit.
