Handmade Bracelets Training
Handmade bracelet-making training is one of the new projects introduced for additional income generation. This project aimed to provide new skills for empowering women from Gati and Dandakateri villages. For this particular project, Namaste Nepal didn’t hire any professional instructors; instead, the NNK team learned and practised bracelet making from the means of YouTube during leisure hours till we became perfect ourselves and prepared to train the women of our project village.
In the year 2020, Namaste Nepal conducted handmade bracelet-making training at Gati and Dandakateri village for 4 days. There were a total number of 24 participants during the workshop at Gati village and 22 participants at Dandakateri village. The mother’s group of both Gati and Dandakateri villages actively participated in the training and learned how to make handmade bracelets quickly.
In the activity, yarns were used to make handmade bracelets. Then the yarns were cut down into 140cm- 160cm strings and were distributed to all the participants for learning to weave and knot the string to make handmade bracelets out of yarn.
The workshop was held for 4 hours a day to let the participants practice till they learned to weave and knot the yarn correctly. The women from the Gati and Dandakateri village learned from the basic level to make handmade bracelets during the training hours.
Feedback from participants:
At the end of the training session, women from Gati and Dandakateri villages said that they were very thankful for this wonderful opportunity to learn new skills. The participants are happy to know that if the bracelets are ready once, they could be sold in a development partner’s country (i.e., Germany and Holland). The training has given a ray of hope to village women that if they work hard to achieve their goals, they can earn and be independent women. The participants promised to do their best in making handmade bracelets.
